The Melbourne University Fencing Club will be running an “Introduction to Fencing” course designed for people who have never fenced before. You do not need any previous knowledge or experience in fencing as the course will assume no prior knowledge and aims to introduce new people to the sport. It will teach the basic skills including footwork, blade work, tactics and rules.

The purpose of the course is to provide participants with the basic skills and knowledge to be able to continue with the other club sessions. It is an opportunity for you to try something new, but also to provide the foundation for ongoing participation.

All fencing equipment is provided - all you need to do is turn up wearing comfortable sports clothes (T-shirts, tracksuit pants and sports shoes).

Start Date: Friday 27th July
Time: 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: East Stadium, Melbourne University Sports Centre, Tin Alley. (map)

The course will run for 8 sessions on Friday evenings.

University of Melbourne Students: $100
Others (Not UoM Students): $130

The cost includes the use of all club equipment and club membership for the entire year. Note that club membership is essential to comply with Sports Centre insurance policy. Upon completion of the introductory course you will then be able to continue with all other club coaching sessions, including the weekly intermediate classes and footwork classes for the rest of the year at no additional cost.
